Outreach & Mentorship
| Through community outreach initiatives, we work to get more girls interested in technology — whether that’s introducing them to it for the first time or igniting their existing passion — through coding camps, workshops, internship opportunities, scholarships and more. WiTT gives back to our local community through outreach projects and provides volunteer opportunities for members. We support outreach initiatives such as coding camps, mentor opportunities, community involvement, and more through both financial and volunteering commitments. |
Collegiate Mentor Programs
WiTT partners with MTSU, Lipscomb University, Belmont University, and Tennessee State University to provide mentors to female students in their technology related programs. WiTT volunteers help these students learn about the many career options in technology and support them along their academic journey and beyond.
Professional Mentor Programs
WiTT connects women with a community that believes in and advocates for them. This mentoring program matches early-to-mid career WiTT members seeking mentorship with more senior level female and male leaders. WiTT's goal is to grow the pipeline of females assuming tech leadership roles in Middle Tennessee.
T.W.I.S.T.E.R. - Tennessee Women in Science, Technology, Engineering and Research
TWISTER is a daylong professional conference held in February at the Adventure Science Center for high school girls. Participants attend four, 55-minute sessions that explore a variety of STEM topics. Each session is presented by a woman working in a Science, Technology, Engineering, Research or Mathematics-related profession, and she is eager to share details about her career, answer questions, and give a little taste of daily life in the workplace. In addition to the Scholarships WiTT awards at the TWISTER event, we also provide speakers and volunteers to help facilitate the event.
